Stonehenge Official Website – Tickets, Best Options & Booking Guide

Stonehenge is one of the most famous prehistoric landmarks in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that attracts visitors year-round. Located on Salisbury Plain in southern England, this ancient stone circle continues to fascinate travelers, historians, and first-time visitors alike.

If you’re planning a visit and searching for the Stonehenge official website, this guide explains where to book, what’s included, and when it may make sense to consider alternative ticket options, especially if availability, flexibility, or added experiences matter to you.

What Is the Stonehenge Official Website?

The Stonehenge official website is part of English-Heritage.org.uk, operated by English Heritage, the organization responsible for managing historic sites across England. Through the official website, visitors can find information about opening hours, visitor rules, accessibility, and book general admission and explorer tour tickets to Stonehenge.

Important things to know about the official site:

  • Operated by English Heritage, the official site manager of Stonehenge
  • Part of a wider heritage website covering many UK historic sites, not Stonehenge alone
  • Website language is English
  • Includes an automatic language translation feature for international visitors
  • Provides general visitor information, rules, and booking access
  • Handles ticket sales for standard Stonehenge admission & explorer tours

💡 If you’re looking for more flexibility, earlier booking options, or guided experiences, many travelers prefer using trusted ticket partners. You can explore our recommended Stonehenge ticket options here.

Challenges with Booking on the Stonehenge Official Website

Limited Advance Availability

Tickets on the Stonehenge official website are released only a few months ahead, which can make long-term trip planning difficult, especially for travelers booking international flights or peak-season visits.

Language &
Booking Clarity

The official website is mainly in English and relies on automatic translation for other languages, which may cause misunderstandings during the booking process or when reviewing ticket conditions

General Admission
Focus

The Stonehenge official website mainly offers standard timed entry tickets, with limited additional options such as the explorer tours, and a few add-ons, but no variety of combo tickets, or transportation packages.

Strict Ticket
Conditions

Most tickets purchased via the official website are non-refundable and non-changeable, meaning any changes to your travel plans may result in losing the ticket entirely.

Want a simpler experience? Many travelers choose flexible tickets or guided tours through trusted partners. >> View our best Stonehenge ticket options here.

My only complaint was that I wish we had more time. But they gave us as much as they could considering we visited three places. Excellent tour. Our guide, James, was the best! Extremely knowledgeable and just the right amount of British wit. Our driver, Thomas, did a fantastic job and was extremely friendly. Overall, I highly recommend this tour and can’t wait to book another next time we are back in London.

Entertaining and informative! Kevin and the driver, are an excellent team for this tour. Keeping us safe and timely. They were both professional and Kevin was entertaining as well as informative. Bravo!

Wonderful trip! A great full day. The whole trip was great. Stonehenge was very interesting. Our guide Leon was extremely knowledgeable and made our experience at Stonehenge even better. We loved the trip and it was a terrific day. The fish and chips at the pub lunch were quite good.

5* JasmineKelly, Dec 2023  [Source: Viator]

Memorable experience! Saint Nicholas was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable and informative. He made this tour a lot of fun with his singing, dancing, and his jokes. If I ever come back to London I’d book this tour just to be able to enjoy his company again. This tour involved a little bit of everything. My daughter and I enjoyed learning about the history of each stop and we enjoyed the pub lunch.
